Memento Vivere started as an experiment to see whether AI can help in learning Stoicism. Whether it can be grounded in the words of Epictetus, Marcus Aurelius and Seneca. Whether it can be stopped from hallucinating and making things up. And whether it can reason using the Stoic philosophers' texts well enough to answer human questions.
Memento Vivere is a source of knowledge, not wisdom.
It's not pretending to be a human philosopher. It uses Gemini embeddings and OpenAI Luna to encode, retrieve and cite relevant information.
To ensure the quality of answers, the tool underwent extensive testing and quality grading by both AI graders and humans.
Every quote is checked - word for word - against the original texts: The Enchiridion and The Discourses by Epictetus, The Moral Letters to Lucilius by Seneca, and The Meditations by Marcus Aurelius.
Its purpose is to help with learning Stoicism through the teachings of Epictetus, Seneca and Marcus Aurelius, and to see what happens when the 2,000-year-old wisdom meets technology of the 21st century.
The wisdom is up for grabs. And like all similar matters - it's up to you to grab it or not.
